Job summary
The opportunity has arisen to work in the Macmillan Renton Cancer Unit (MRU) at Hereford County Hospital for one year as a full-time Band 5 Registered General Nurse. Your main duties will be to assist in the out-patient care of patients receiving systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) at MRU. This will involve clinical input in the treatment unit and also support in the SACT clinics.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a registered Adult Level 1 Nurse (NMC) to support the SACT Team within the MRU.
The successful candidate will have at least six months post registration experience working in an acute clinical setting.
The candidate will not be expected to administer intra-venous SACT (which is the remit of SACT-trained nurses) but will be involved in administering supportive therapy (e.g. blood and electrolytes) etc.
The candidate will have experience administering and caring for patients undergoing cannulation and venepuncture, or be willing to undertake training.
The candidate will be able to demonstrate effective and sensitive handling of difficult information and situations.
The candidate will have the ability to work flexibly to cover the Unit operational hours 08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday with the need to work later than 18:00 where treatment over runs
