Job summary
Applications are welcome for an individual looking for a development opportunity as the General Manager for the Acute and Emergency Directorate in the Medical Division at Wye Valley NHS Trust.
Reporting to the Associate Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Directorate Matron, named clinical leads and colleagues across the Division and Trust. You will ensure delivery of high quality services and meet regulatory and operational performance targets. Supported by senior leadership you will seek, share and drive opportunities to deliver high standards of clinical care and have a selection of productivity schemes whilst ensuring delivery of operational, financial and transformational agenda.
This is an exciting time for the Directorate as the Urgent and Emergency care recovery plans are being implemented and driving several changes including the development of a Virtual Ward.
You will have accountability and responsibility for a broad portfolio and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams ensuring safe and effective service delivery. You will possess highly developed leadership skills, be intellectually flexible, highly analytical and confident to challenge and possess strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to motivate and build successful teams in a fast paced environment. You will lead the Directorate and be focused on outcomes to deliver the highest quality of care we would want for ourselves, our families and friends.

Main duties of the job
- To deliver the efficient utilisation of operational resources to maximise performance and
- To work collaboratively with other Managers and Clinical leads across Clinical directorates and Divisions to support delivery of all operational performance
- To ensure that the Acute and Emergency Care Directorate has relevant and robust Standard Operating; escalation and business continuity
- In conjunction with the Clinical Director and Matron ensure that quality and safety indicators are met, acting upon potential non-compliance as agreed in relevant procedures and
- To ensure that the Acute and Emergency Care Directorate has an Operational Performance Management
- To be responsible for improving services and delivering best practice standards within available
- To develop business cases to support operational delivery of services and to supervise others in the development of business cases where
- To be responsible for ensuring the estate is developed to meet the needs of the services within the Acute and Emergency Care Directorate.
- To deputise for the Associate Chief Operating Officer
