Job summary

Diabetes Dietetic Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Diabetes Dietetic Assistant based at Hereford County Hospital. The successful applicant will join our team of diabetes dietitians who are a strong part of the dietetic department and the dynamic and supportive diabetes teams (both adult and paediatric). The successful candidate will be interested and enthusiastic about nutrition and keen to empower people to self-manage a long term condition.

Main duties of the job

Following in house training, the post holder will deliver weekly education sessions to people with diabetes (some in person and some virtually). They will be involved in development of new and existing education programmes. They will play a key role in the smooth running of diabetes education and supporting the diabetes dietitians with their clinical caseloads. This role requires good communication & organisation skills as well as someone who is IT literate and both works well as part of a team and self-directed.

The Dietetic team consists of 14 dietitians and 4 dietetic assistants and are supported by the Therapy Services admin team. This post holder will work most closely with our 3 diabetes dietitians and the wider diabetes team including diabetes specialist nurses, and diabetes consultants.
