The Plastics Department which services the population of Herefordshire, Powys (in Wales) and Shropshire border is unique in its cross border working and in so many other ways
Main duties of the job

We have a great department in Hereford full of talented, forward thinking and passionate professionals. The Trust is actively investing in developing our team and facilities including a brand new onsite bespoke surgical unit with three operating rooms within our existing unit.
The Plastic Surgery Department works closely with the Dermatology Department and they are both based at Gaol Street in a brand new skin centre, which is a 10 minute walk away from the main hospital. There are 8 outpatient clinic rooms and 3 minor operation theatres which are staffed with a junior sister, staff nurses and healthcare assistants, any GA lists will still take place at the County Hospital . This is where the appointee's secretary and assistant medical secretary will be based. A Dermatology and Plastic's library is maintained in the offices. The consultant will have an office with access to computers with internet access. There will be full managerial support and regular input from the Clinical Lead and Associate Medical Director - Medicine to ensure efficient running of the department.

There are currently no acute on call commitments and all patient care is day case. In those instances where inpatient cases are shared, the admitting team will look after the patient.
We have strong links to plastic surgery departments, where some of our consultants work, at University Hospital Wales in Cardiff, Gloucester Royal hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Birmingham Childrens Hospital.
The majority of referrals are outpatients but the service does accept internal referrals for inpatients and patients may be reviewed on the ward if necessary, but will remain under the care of the admitting consultant.
