Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our wheelchair service. We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a range of clinical skills with an interest in wheelchairs, posture and pressure care, working with both adults and children.

You will be working with experienced Occupational Therapy clinicians and Therapy Support Worker, we have recently facilitated a band 5 rotation into our wheelchair service as well. Along with opportunity to work alongside an experience rehab engineer.

You will also be working with the wider MDT - tissue viability, nursing and therapy team.

Assessments take place in a range of settings including clinics, person's own home as well as community settings such as care homes.

This is a forward thinking team where innovation and service development is encouraged.

The role covers the county of Herefordshire - access to a car and a clean driving licence is essential. The office base for the team is Belmont, Hereford.

Main duties of the job

To carry out holistic assessments for people requiring a wheelchair for long-term use - both manual and powered chairs. Completing specialist postural, pressure care and seating assessment based upon the oxford approach.

There is opportunity for training in relation to postural management, and upon discussion with the team lead , opportunity to attend key training events relevant to your role - for example - Posture and Mobility Group events.

  • Professional Qualification to degree level or equivalent in Occupational Therapy

  • Post Graduate specialist qualification/significant post graduate experience

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Broad and specialist knowledge of relevant patient conditions and therapy interventions
  • Demonstration of knowledge of core and specialist Therapy skills
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD in relevant area
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary communication, assessments and record keeping

  • Able to make independent, sound, clinical decisions and problem solve
