Job summary

Relocation expenses up to £8K Plus a Recruitment incentive of £10K

The appointee will support the diagnostic, screening, teaching and administrative tasks of the department as detailed in the job description. The department will support fully digital home based working or a blended model of on site and home working, depending on the candidates preference; all MDTs can also be covered remotely.

The department is the lead laboratory in our digital network which includes Worcester Acute Hospital and South Warwickshire Foundation Trust. We are working towards a model whereby cases can be shared digitally across our network to make maximum value of local reporting expertise. The department has biomedical scientific staff who can support a full repertoire of specimen dissection and is in the process of introducing the Macropath dissection system to allow the process to be viewed remotely should the reporting consultant require.

Main duties of the job

To fully participate as part of the team of consultants in the provision of comprehensive histopathology, non-gynaecological cytopathology, and morbid anatomy services (optional) according to agreed rotas.

To assist in the maintenance and development of those services in accordance with medical and technical advances.

To support MDTs and local clinicians in delivering a reliable and comprehensive service to support patient care

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full and Specialist registration (and with a current licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.

Training

Essential

  • Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
  • Applicants that are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT

Desirable

  • Management training and/or experience.

Experience

  • FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent training and experience
  • Appropriate training in Histopathology, and diagnostic cytology and carrying out autopsies.
  • Appropriate experience and skills in all aspects of Cellular Pathology appropriate to a DGH service including surgical histopathology, diagnostic cytology (non-gynaecological cytology including reporting fine needle aspirates) and carrying out autopsies for the Coroner and hospital service.

Desirable

  • A special interest in breast and/or gynaecological pathology
