Do you have a keen interest in specialising in diabetes care, or are you an experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) looking for your next rewarding challenge?
We warmly invite DSNs, as well as Registered Nurses looking to advance in this rewarding field, to join our welcoming, innovative multidisciplinary team as a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Nurse. Here, you'll work alongside Consultant Diabetologists, Specialist Diabetes Practitioners/Nurses, Podiatrists, Dieticians and other passionate colleagues, all focused on making a meaningful difference to patient outcomes.
You'll be primarily based at New Cross Hospital, ensuring team continuity and a strong support network, with occasional opportunities to assist at neighbouring sites when clinical needs arise, demonstrating your adaptability and commitment to excellent patient care across our wider service. Our service hours are Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30 or 09:00-17:00, excluding bank holidays.
Applicants should be Registered Nurses with at least two years' experience, ideally with expertise in either inpatient, outpatient or community diabetes care. A solid grasp of current diabetes technologies, and familiarity with key clinical guidelines. Progress towards TREND competencies is preferred.

- In conjunction with the multidisciplinary team and in line with local and national targets provide specialist evidence based nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/ carers without supervision.
- Support and deputise for senior diabetes specialist nurses. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings.
- Provide expert advice and education for Healthcare professionals involved in the care of people with diabetes and their carers.
- Be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and to provide cover at all sites, if required, acting as professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.
Although this post is advertised at part time (4.5 days/week) we have approval pending for an additional full time (5 days/week) post which will be interviewed for at the same time as this post.
