Job summary
We are looking for Senior Clinical Fellows to join our Critical Care Services team to enable Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust provide a first class anaesthetic service at both New Cross and Cannock Chase Hospitals.
Suitable for UK and overseas doctors seeking clinical experience, a high quality training, enhanced qualifications and career progression. Posts will be offered equivalent to the Specialist Registrar equivalent grades.
Main duties of the job
To agree a contract of employment. To comply with all GMC regulations such as laid out in "Good Medical Practice". To observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trust's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. These policies and procedures have been drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters. To take responsibility for your own Health & Safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place. To comply with all Trust requirements of appraisal, assessment and of the proposed medical training programme as stipulated by the programme leads.

In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, and commensurate with your grade, to play a full part in the supervision and support of other members of your team including more junior medical staff .In conjunction with colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.
The post holder will have an agreed experience in the specialty of their choice including outpatient clinics, ward cover, specialist in-patient reviews and procedures, audit and research. The precise role within each team and the proportion of clinical time spent between the two components would depend on previous experience and qualifications of the candidate and the specialty chosen. For candidates with more than 3 years of post-qualification experience, MRCP or equivalent qualifications or full time research experience, Senior Fellowship position can be offered.

- MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification
- Eligible for Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and licence to practise
- Completion of (or near completion of) Core Anaesthetic Training (CT3/4) or equivalent
Desirable
- FRCA (Primary and/or Final) or equivalent postgraduate qualification
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
- Additional relevant qualifications (e.g. PGCME, research degree
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years' anaesthetic experience in a recognised training post or equivalent
- Competent in providing anaesthesia for a range of routine surgical procedures under supervision
- Experience in pre-operative assessment, intraoperative care, and post-anaesthesia management
- Experience in participating in emergency theatre and out-of-hours rotas
Desirable
- Experience in subspecialty areas (e.g. obstetric, paediatric, or trauma anaesthesia)
- Experience in anaesthesia for remote site procedures (e.g. MRI, endoscopy)
- Previous experience working in the UK NHS
Knowledge & Skills

- Sound understanding of anaesthetic principles, pharmacology, and physiology
- Ability to recognise and manage anaesthetic complications promptly and safely
- Effective communication skills with patients, colleagues, and the multidisciplinary team
