Flow Runner Team Leader

Job summary

To co-ordinate all aspects of the Flow Runner Service in the Emergency Department on a day to day basis, specific objective of promoting a customer orientated image and to improve standards throughout the Emergency Department

Main duties of the job

To support in the provision of operational support to the Flow Runner service, across New Cross site to include management of rotas, and sickness absence.

To support the implementation of Policies for the Flow Runner service, ensuring staff are aware of changes to existing policy and the introduction of new policies

To support with the effective operational leadership, motivation and support to the Flow Runner service.

To attend mandatory training and any other training course deemed necessary to carry out the post of Flow Runner Team Leader.

To support all staff, to attend mandatory training and to ensure staff are adequately trained in Flow Runner duties; and ensure records are kept up to date.

To ensure compliance with all Health and Safety legislation and to initiate any remedial action.

To liaise daily with the Directorate Support Manager on service provision and any ongoing problems.

To support with first line management issues such as disciplinary, capability and monitoring sickness absence.

To train staff/supervisors in all aspects of the Patient Flow service including COSHH and Governance issues, to groups and individually.

To support in monitoring and management of stock that is used on a day-to-day basis, e.g., provisions, equipment, and medical gases and controlling issues and usage.

Job responsibilities

To ensure the Working Time Directive is applied to the Patient Flow Assistants.

To comply with Statutory Standards, for example, Health and Safety, Governance, and to ensure Health and Safety Inspections are completed and the necessary action plans are put in place.

To support with industrial relations and human relations within the Patient Flow Service.

To attend departmental meetings with the management team as required.

To participate in the induction of new staff.

To wear an ID badge as issued in the interest of security in accordance with Trust policy.

To be responsible for the safe use of equipment used by others, and complete Health and Safety checks on equipment to ensure it is safe to use.

To support with compliance of the Bed Policy for replacement beds and mattresses, and issue of beds from the Bed Store.

To carry the departments emergency phone and pager whilst on duty, as and when required.

To implement the Major Incident Plan for the Patient Flow service in the absence of the Directorate Support Manager

To ensure that temporary adjustments are made to rotas to ensure continuity of service. In the absence of the Directorate Support Manager.

To be responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of the Patient Flow Service and organise manpower on a daily basis.

To attend departmental meetings and any other meetings in the Trust that are deemed necessary.

To complete weekly/monthly timesheets.

To deal with patients in your care that become violent and aggressive, and their relatives, before security attend.

To be responsible for the care of patients during transportation through the department on beds, stretchers and chairs

To carry personal radio, or other tool used to enable the employee to carry out their duties
