Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Nurse to join the School Nursing Service in Wolverhampton.
As a school nurse you will work within the Bilston team to deliver and manage a programme of care for a designated caseload/population.
The post holder will be required to have NMC registration.
The post holder will support the School Nursing Team in the delivery of programmes of care to individuals and families who access the School Nursing Services within the City, in order to improve theirhealth outcomes.
The post holder will work as part of a multi skilled School Nursing Team, offering universal preventative health care through the Healthy Child Programme in a variety of settings which may include educationalestablishments, Health Centres as well as the client's home.
The post holder will contribute to the delivery of the organisation's objectives.
This position is term time working 37.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
To work as an integral part of the School Nursing Service's team in both primary and secondary schools with professional responsibility to the Matron for School Nursing.
To act in accordance with Safeguarding policies as described by the Safeguarding Children's Board, and attend updates to maximise the safety of children and their families.
To act in accordance with Safeguarding Vulnerable adult's policies and procedures.
To undertake review health assessments for Children and Young People in Care in primary and secondary schools.
To undertake assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care working with children, young people and their families.
To offer and provide training to teachers and school staff.
To participate in the teaching of unqualified staff, including School Nurse Public Health Associates and pre-registration students.
To provide advice, information and sign posting on aspects of current public health agenda.
Assist in the planning and implementation and participate of effective health promotion programmes, to support Trust and Local Authority national and local targets.To participate in promotional / educational events for the service.
To lead by example, develop yourself and other staff, and influence the way care is given in a manner that is innovative, open and responds to individual needs.
