Job summary

We are looking for a motivated, dedicated nurse with in-depth sepsis knowledge who is committed to delivering high standards of safe and dignified care.

The successful candidate will work within the sepsis team who are finalists in the HSJ patient safety awards. They will have a high level of knowledge and act as a specialist resource in the management of sepsis and the deteriorating patient. They will be able to work independently, develop a good rapport with key leaders, clinicians, and have some influencing skills to improve patient outcomes and experiences.

As part of a specialist nursing team, you will be required to work flexibly as the team becomes a seven day service.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and developing high standards of care, through education, and training, to improve patient's outcomes.

As a band 6 sepsis practitioner you will have a strong work ethic, an ability to work with members of the multi-disciplinary team and have the confidence to present and deliver educational materials across the Trust to drive the quality agenda.

Excellent communication and IT skills are essential to facilitate the effective multi-disciplinary approach in the early recognition, escalation and management of sepsis Trust wide through digital tools as the team supports the transition from paper to digital in line with sepsis guidelines and the NHS 10 year plan.

Main duties of the job

To work autonomously to ensure safe and effective clinical practice.

Provide specialist support, advice and education to the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal management of the septic patient.

To work independently, develop good rapport with key leaders and clinicians and have some influencing skills to improve patient outcomes and experiences.

To drive early recognition and management of the septic patient at ward level.
