Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 staff nurse to join our busy out patients department at Cannock Chase Hospital, part of the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. The post is full time, 37.5 hours per week.
Hours are worked over 4 days 8-6. However, it is required for staff to stay late on occasion to cover waiting ambulance patients or over-running clinics.
This post would be suitable for an experienced post-registration Nurse. This is due to the fact we have a small team of trained nurses in the department and rely on each other for peer support. Being confident dealing with emergency situations and unwell patients in such a small team whilst working in a small community hospital is vital.
Completion of the mentorship course would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
Experience of an out-patient setting is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. This is a general out patients department covering many specialties including ENT orthopaedic, gynaecology, general surgery, gastroenterology, oncology, haematology, cardiology, respiratory, rheumatology, renal. Experience in any of the above would be beneficial.
Candidates would be required to provide and maintain the highest standard of patient care, and have good organisational skills. This position would suit a nurse who likes variety in her work. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
