Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy, friendly, dynamic and supportive team in the Cardiac Investigation Department, Heart and Lung Centre in Wolverhampton. This is a tertiary cardiothoracic centre with 18 cardiologists, 6 cardiac surgeons and 2 thoracic surgeons. The cardiology department provides a 24/7 primary PCI service, TAVI, Mitra Clip, left atrial appendage occlusion, PFO closure, heart failure clinic, adult congenital heart disease clinic, complex EP service, and the full range of implantable electronic cardiac devices, including leadless and conduction system pacing

As a Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist you will be proficient and have developed knowledge and skills across a wide range of services with the emphasis on implantation and follow up of pacemakers and complex devices in CRM.

As a member of the Cardiac Physiology team, you will also be expected to rotate around areas of Cardiology including catheter labs (including on-call), ETT, tilt table testing and tape analysis.

A BSc Cardiac Physiology qualification or equivalent and accreditation in cardiac devices (BHRS, EHRA or IBHE) is essential.

We have a designated training co-ordinator for the department who will support in areas where needed. The post holder will be expected to show good leadership skills

The successful candidate will work closely with the lead of the CRM service and specifically work on the development and expansion of the ILR service.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will undertake a full range of invasive and non-invasive procedures at the Cardiac Investigation Department at both New cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital.

The successful candidate will be passionate, dedicated and keen to develop and work closely within the invasive service.

They will participate in the training of more junior staff members in the department and help support the training and development of PTP and STP students.

The postholder will work unsupervised in all areas and be responsible for the day to day running of any area in which they are working.

Good communication skills, time management and multi-disciplinary skills are essential for the role
