Job summary

The Associate Chief Nursing Information Officer (ACNIO) assumes a pivotal leadership role within The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, with a primary emphasis on fostering collaboration with the Trust's Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) to steer the successful execution of our Digital Strategy.

The ACNIO serves as a proficient translator and the principal liaison for digital nursing, imparting the strategic vision for how technology can elevate nursing practices, enhance clinical quality, and fortify patient safety. A paramount aspect of their role entails structured engagement with Nursing and Allied Health Professional (AHP) staff. This proactive engagement ensures the optimisation of care delivery models, the successful deployment of a digital-first approach across the Trust, and the realisation of its associated benefits.

One of the ACNIO's central responsibilities is orchestrating the strategic planning and execution of a new state-of-the-art Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. This transformative undertaking demands close collaboration with multifaceted teams, guaranteeing the seamless integration and effective utilisation of the EPR system. The ACNIO's leadership in this initiative will directly affect the quality of care administered to our patients, the operational efficiency of our healthcare services, and the overarching progress of healthcare technology throughout our organisation.

Main duties of the job

Take responsibility and accountability alongside the Trust's CIO, CNIO and CCIO for the strategic direction of digital health and technology design, procurement, implementation and delivery.

Provide high-quality clinical and informatics leadership across the organisation in collaboration with all stakeholders.

Provide responsibility and accountability for the Trust digital clinical safety process as an enabler for safe and effective care.

Act as a champion for digital health and technology.

Support the continued development of electronic health records in the Trust and local health economy.

Ensure that proposed service redesigns will be effective and safe in improving clinical practice and patient care outcomes.

Spearhead the development and execution of a research and development strategy within digital health.

Lead the Nursing and AHP workforce in developing new ways of working whilst actively striving to promote a paper-lite working environment.

Provide Clinical leadership to maximise the potential of technology and innovation aligned to the changing needs of the health and care system (ICS).

Ensure compliance with financial policies, controls, and reporting requirements related to digital health expenditures.

Recruit, train, and lead a dynamic team of nursing and digital health professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Lead by example, demonstrating leadership qualities, professionalism, and a commitment to the organization's mission and values.
