Job summary
An exciting permanent full time vacancy has arisen for a suitably motivated individual to join our busy team. You will be a caring and dedicated individual who has excellent communication skills. Ideally you will have had previous experience of working in a clinical setting or a customer care environment.
Required qualifications: GCSE grade 4 or above (new GCSE grades) or C or above (old GCSE grades) in Maths/English and Science or equivalent and/or NVQ level III in science/healthcare related subject or equivalent level/experience.
The Respiratory Physiology team is based within the Respiratory Centre at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton with a satellite department over at Cannock Chase Hospital. Both laboratories provide a wide range of diagnostic services . The post holder will be primarily based at Cannock Chase Hospital, working in the delivery of Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) respiratory diagnostic tests. There will be a requirement for cross site working, occasionally working at New Cross Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to perform a range of duties which include simple diagnostic tests, supporting clinics, quality control, equipment issue & maintenance. You will also be supporting the restoration of diagnostic services following to the Covid-19 pandemic, primarily supporting an innovative 'in car', drive-in spirometry testing service which is located on the New Cross Hospital site. You will also be required to assist with maintaining a stock room and the ordering of consumable items. You will also have an important role with infection prevention, ensuring testing rooms and equipment are cleaned and maintained for use by patients and staff. It would be desirable for you to be an ARTP accredited spirometry practitioner, or have previous experience in measuring spirometry/basic lung function however training will be a given. We will be looking for an individual who wishes to develop their clinical knowledge and skills to progress further within the profession.
