This post would be particularly beneficial for those doctors wishing to gain additional experience in obstetrics and gynaecology in a supportive environment with a specific interest and expertise in simulation training.
This post will provide the opportunity for the post holder to access specialist clinical sessions appropriate to their development needs and participate in clinical work at ST5-7 level.
The post holders will be required to contribute to a 48 hour EWTD full shift rota. The remainder of the job plan each week will consist of general middle grade duties on Labour Ward, in clinics and theatres; allowing the successful candidates to maintain their skills in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will support and deliver ObSim & DIPsim courses within the department and contribute to in house MDT teaching programmes (PROMPT)
There will also be a contribution to other in-house teaching activities (eg. RWT/WMH obstetric webinars, weekly departmental teaching, CTG teaching, hysteroscopy & laparoscopy training days).
The postholder will play a key role in the development of a new in-situ obstetric simulation project as well as joining our faculty for other Sim courses at SimWard Wolverhampton (eg. Internal Medical Training, Foundation training, Paeds) to develop skills in running scenarios and debriefing.
Development of a programme for laprosim training for in-house trainees
The postholder will also be expected to carry out general O&G duties in-line with the needs of the Department, covering day-time clinical sessions including labour ward, antenatal clinic, gynaecology outpatient clinics and pro-rata gynaecology theatre sessions, There is an expectation to participate in full on-call duties on the senior registrar tier for Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
About us
The Directorate has an active fetal and maternal medicine service, with a number of specialist antenatal services. There is an good case mix on Delivery Suite with a large level 3 neonatal unit.
There are excellent opportunities for this area of practice. This department is well known in the region for providing training in general gynaecological surgery.
The Directorate delivers ambulatory gynaecology services from both New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital. These include diagnostic and therapeutic Colposcopy, diagnostic hysteroscopy, outpatient endometrial resection and endometrial ablation .
