Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Co-Ordinator for the H.O.P.E. project (Holistic Opportunities Preventing Exclusion) which works closely with our partners Wolverhampton Voluntary and Community Action and the Social Prescribing team. The role involves recruiting, training and supporting H.O.P.E. volunteers to support vulnerable people in our community. Please note the job is full time and a fixed term until April 2025. We are willing to consider a fixed term position or secondment from another position

Main duties of the job

To lead an Admin Support Worker and work within a wider team based in Patient Experience at RWT

To regularly liaise with our partners WVCA on developing the role of the volunteers supporting social prescribing in the city

To follow RWT systems and processes for recruitment, training and support of volunteers

To contribute to reports on the project, and take part in social media campaigns

To be face of the project and attend community engagement events to talk about and promote the project

The post holder will be deputy lead for:

  1. Leadership and management
  • Provide support and advice to the social prescribing project in volunteer recruitment within RWT policy and procedures.
  • Provide support and advice to the Band 3 Admin Support Officer in managing workload.
  • Provide support and advice to the project steering group and to deputise in relation to the project for the absence of the Deputy Head of Patient Experience.
  • Ensuring volunteers are provided with support and advice to assist them in their roles.
  • Support management of relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  1. Communication
  • Communicating effectively with service users, the LINK Worker Manager, LINK Workers and Volunteers and adhering to RWT procedures.
  • Ensure and maintain effective, timely and professional communication with external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring Band 3 Admin Support Officer maintain effective, timely and professional communication with volunteers.
  • Communicating complex information with internal stakeholders in written form, by telephone and face to face. Ensuring sensitive and complex information is handledappropriately and in line with RWT guidelines.

  • Directly monitor and manage the performance of the Admin Support Worker and LINK Volunteers, ensuring that team members implement and deliver a high standard of service in relation to the project.
  • Lead the development of new social prescribing groups that support and enhance patient care.

  1. Volunteering Champion and Support
  • Act as a role model and champion of volunteering services within RWT and the wider community.
  • Take direct responsibility for dealing with issues of a complex or sensitive nature.
  • Provide advice on the opportunities available for volunteering within the social prescribing project.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure that volunteers can access training and development as part of their role.
  • Provide advice when required on the local delivery of the social prescribing project to the LINK Worker Manager, LINK Workers and the project steering group.
  • Provide direct support to managing change and communicating challenging information across RWT and the wider community in a consistent and professional way.
  • Support volunteers to develop personally and professionally, encouraging participation in relevant training and events.
  • Gain feedback from volunteers and act accordingly, gained from means such as surveys, consultations, group supervision meetings, and using feedback to shape volunteer support provision as co-design

  • Provides direct line management to the Admin Support Officer.
  • Undertakes the recruitment of the Admin Support Officer and LINK Volunteers, carries out annual appraisal and ensures appropriate sickness absence monitoring and management of the team.
  • Leads the development and planning of training programmes and sessions for Volunteers.
  • Regularly delivers training regarding volunteering to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and professional groups.
  • Ensures engagement of groups that may be resistant to the information being provided.
  • Ensures that the provision of information and reports regarding the uptake of education andtraining for volunteers is provided in a timely manner and appropriate format directly to the Deputy Head of Patient Experience and in their absence the project steering group.
  • Supports LINK Workers in the management of challenging volunteer situations when there is a need to do so.

  1. Information, research and audit
  • Extracts and analyses data and information from established RWT systems to provide performance and assurance reports for the Deputy Head of Patient Experience and the project steering group.
  • Ensures the collection and collation of evidence to demonstrate compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Uses appropriate information technology and systems to undertake analysis of feedback, identify trends, risks and issues, escalating those issues where appropriate and managing risks accordingly.
  • Undertakes analysis of local patient survey data identifying issues and trends, producing reports and recommendations arising from these to the appropriate committees.
  • Undertakes analysis of local volunteer survey data, using the results to recommend areas for improvement and supporting the implementation of these.
