This programme offers a 12 month fixed term or secondment placement, a full training package, and is ideally suited for science and healthcare graduates wishing to experience the delivery of research in a variety of academic and NHS research placements.
We have 7 posts available across the North/Central/South areas of the West Midlands to cover areas including Staffordshire, Shropshire, West Midlands, Warwickshire, Worcestershire & Herefordshire.

Main duties of the job
The NIHR Clinical Research Network West Midlands (CRN WM) has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to apply for the role of Research Internship post. We are advertising for (x7) 12-month fixed-term positions that will require onsite, clinical, and office-based working within the West Midlands area.
Our Internship programme to join the Clinical Research Network West Midlands (CRN WM) offers you a unique opportunity to experience a 'behind the scenes look at the National Institute for HealthResearch, the nation largest funder of health and social care research.The programme offers a 12-month fixed-term contract, a full training package, and is ideally suited for social, healthcare science graduates wanting to experience the delivery of research and clinical trials in a variety of academic and NHS research placements. For example a clinical setting,science laboratory, pharmacy, or within a research delivery team located in community/trust/primary and secondary health care settings.The post holder/s will work as supervised members of staff, with healthcare teams undertaking research studies: gaining both research delivery exposure and hands-on learning.

To use all information systems according to the authorised policies & protocols.
To input data information accurately into the computer system, followed by an accuracy check by a mentor/senior colleague.
To follow Standard Operating Procedures involved in research processes, the processing of work/patient specimens under appropriate supervision.Work as a supervised member of the laboratory/pharmacy and research delivery team undertaking research studies; for example, overview of the research process, supporting pharmacy services and learning laboratory techniques, analytical procedures and using laboratory equipment.
To deal with telephone queries and checking data with clerical/healthcare staff.
To communicate information verbally and in writing and communicate routine information with staff.
To make straight forward judgements involving facts or situations, some requiring analysis.
To plan and prioritise own workload, arranges meetings for others
To follow Trust and Local department policies
Demonstrates own activities to new or less experienced employees
Undertake surveys or audits, as necessary to own work i.e. completes staff surveys, complete basic audit pro-formas
To administrate non-complex processes
