Job summary

A vacancy has arisen has arisen for an optometrist to join the hospital optometry team at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary, including working at Cannock Chase Hospital. The team consists of 11 Optometrists, an ECLO & two optometry assistants.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant for a band 7 post will need to have significant clinical experience; Hospital Eye Service experience is likely to be a significant advantage, but applicants, with community experience only, will be considered if they have the relevant type of experience & demonstrate the necessary aptitude for the role. Independent prescribing would be advantageous, but not essential.

The department provides some pre-registration placements, plus training & clinical demonstration for junior medical staff & other health professionals. Therefore experience of clinical supervision would be an advantage.

Depending on the number of hours that the successful applicant wishes to be contracted for, there may be an option to work compressed hours, including some evening clinics or extended working days. The working pattern will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
