Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12-month postgraduate surgical skills simulation fellow post; with a main focus on the delivery and updating the current successful surgical skills simulation teaching programme to support the regional HEE West Midlands surgical training programme. Working alongside surgical educators and the experienced SimWard faculty the surgical skill simulation fellow will help deliver and develop simulation-based teaching to a range of postgraduate learners
Main duties of the job
There will be a 50% clinical commitment to Surgical Specialty (General Surgery or Urology) at New Cross Hospital. This will be at a senior tier level (ST3+) and will include contributions to the acute surgical take and elective surgical outpatient and theatre activity. This will be limited to ensure that there is sufficient and protected simulation teaching time.

- To attend clinical commitments, appropriate to the development of the appointees specialist training in their chosen surgical specialty (general surgery or urology). This will include:

- Attendance to outpatient clinics as timetabled
- Attendance to operating lists for both emergency and elective cases
- To collaborate with colleagues in all disciplines (including primary and tertiary care where appropriate) to achieve an integrated service for patients.
- To develop skills and interests appropriate for the sub-specialty surgical service
