Job summary

An exciting development opportunity has arisen within the General Surgery Directorate for an aspiring Assistant Directorate Manager.

The General Surgery Directorate are offering a development opportunity to join the team as a Band 6 Directorate Support Manager with the aim to develop to a Band 7 Assistant Directorate Manager in the next 12-18 months.

This is a great opportunity for an aspiring Operational Manager.

The Surgical and Patient Services Group covers a number of clinical areas including General Surgery, Colorectal, Upper Gastrointestinal, Vascular, Breast, Plastics and Urology.

In addition, the Group has responsibility for the main out-patient areas at New Cross Hospital & Cannock Chase Hospital and manages the Overseas Visitors, Private Patients, General Office, Non-emergency Patient Transport and the Bereavement Centre within the Organisation.

This post will be working alongside and supporting the management team within the General Surgery Directorate.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified, highly motivated individual with a track record of delivering on performance and quality, who has excellent planning skills and who embraces the opportunity for change.

This post requires you to have excellent collaborative working skills with the ability to build strong relationships with Clinical Leaders and professional staff groups.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a person who can act on their own initiative and has experience of working with clinical teams to deliver KPIs and service developments.

To be able to work independently and lead teams in the delivery of high quality and efficient patient services.

The successful candidate will also have experience in managing 18 week's RTT pathways as well as experience in financial planning and staff management.

To interpret data identifying areas for development and work with the clinical leads to improve patient flows throughout the Trust's elective services.

To provide business and project management support to the Clinical Director, Group Manager, and Matron.

To work closely with the Directorate management team, to be responsible for performance monitoring, liaising with clinical leads, and ensuring appropriate action is taken to ensure the Trust's activity and waiting list targets are achieved.

To support the Directorate Management Team with rota management, induction and medical staffing issues.

Support the Directorate Manager in the development of business plans for the Group, as required.

In conjunction with the Directorate management team ensure that quality standards, both those agreed with the commissioners and dictated by national policy, are achieved.
