This post supports the Upper and Lower GI MDT's at New Cross Hospital Wolverhampton and Russell's Hall Hospital, Dudley
The post holder will see new Upper and Lower GI patients. Secretarial support, designated office space and appropriate IT equipment will be provided.
The post will be based at both New Cross Hospital and Russell's Hall Hospital. Patients will be seen in clinics at New Cross Hospital and Russell's Hall Hospital. Patients will be treated at New Cross Hospital for radiotherapy and systemic treatments.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers to provide an Oncology service to Wolverhampton and Russell's Hall Hospitals. The principal duties of the post will include:
Provision of a Clinical Oncology service for Upper and Lower GI cancers for Wolverhampton and Russell's Hall Hospital;
- Participation departmental meetings
- Participation in the multidisciplinary team meetings relevant to the post
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to provide a service in Clinical Oncology with responsibility for Upper and Lower GI cancers.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department. This includes being on-call for telephone advice and major incidents.
- To provide cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues in respect of periods of leave.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
- In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
- To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.

We are one of the largest acute and community providers in the West Midlands having more than 850 beds on the New Cross site. The Trust also has 56 rehabilitation beds at West Park Hospital and 54 beds at Cannock Chase Hospital.
