Job summary

The Pre Operative Assessment Nurse Practitioner leads the enhanced assessment of patients' fitness and readiness for surgery. This includes optimising patients' health status and referring on to the multiprofessional team as required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary clinical team to provide the highest standard of care for patients. Delivery of care is patient focused and has emphasis on meeting the individual patient's needs during the pre - operative assessment process.

  • RGN First level Registered Practitioner with NMC/Professional Body
  • Degree/Diploma or equivalent in nursing
  • Recognised accredited qualification in physical assessment and history taking at level 6 or 7, or working towards qualification

Desirable

  • Recognised qualification in Pre-Operative Assessment and / or Orthopaedic qualification
  • Teaching, assessing qualification or equivalent level of specialist skill
  • Mentor qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable clinical experience at Band 5 (or equivalent) or above

Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience in Orthopaedics and or PreOperative Assessment
