Job summary
The Pre Operative Assessment Nurse Practitioner leads the enhanced assessment of patients' fitness and readiness for surgery. This includes optimising patients' health status and referring on to the multiprofessional team as required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary clinical team to provide the highest standard of care for patients. Delivery of care is patient focused and has emphasis on meeting the individual patient's needs during the pre - operative assessment process.

Be responsible for ensuring all resources are used to optimum effect, ensuring all members of the multidisciplinary team comply with local protocols in infection control, manual handling, Health and Safety, patient advocacy and will expediate quality issues, relating to Service delivery.
Act as a resource, within the specialist areas of orthopaedics and preoperative assessment. Empowers nursing staff and other allied health care professionals to develop high levels of clinical skills and facilitates communication within all care groups.
Deputise for the Unit Manager in their absence.

- Degree/Diploma or equivalent in nursing
- Recognised accredited qualification in physical assessment and history taking at level 6 or 7, or working towards qualification

- Teaching, assessing qualification or equivalent level of specialist skill
- Mentor qualification
