Job summary
The role of the job is to lead on the co-ordination and delivery of the occupational therapy service within the Spinal Cord Injury specialism. The service is provided across the acute, rehab and outpatient settings.
You will be expected to assist the Team Lead in the organisation, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service to MCSI, to ensure efficient and effective provision of service and care to patients .
You will undertake a clinical caseload and treat to a high professional standard using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience, to patients with complex physical and psychological conditions, maintaining comprehensive records as an autonomous practitioner.
Main duties of the job
- To perform advanced assessment of patients with diverse presentations and highly complex physical and psychological conditions, and to develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
- To help ensure a cohesive service for the MCSI by ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment and the patients' successful integration into the community.o To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.o To be a recognised source of clinical expertise on occupational therapy assessment and treatment in spinal cord injuries.o To supervise, educate and assess the performance of occupational therapy students, and work closely with the university to ensure teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.o To deputise for the Team Lead, MCSI as required.o To be involved in audits, surveys and evidence-based projects to further own and team's clinical practice as required. To make recommendations to clinical leader of service and be involved in the implementation of any associated changes to practice by the team.
