Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Fellowship post within the Department of Anaesthesia at The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt NHS Foundation Trust. The tenure of the post is for 12 months from February 2026. This post is open as both Junior and Senior Clinical Fellowship.
We invite applications from dynamic and enthusiastic anaesthetists, to join our friendly and forward-thinking team at the internationally renowned Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. The post holder should have minimum 3 years' experience in anaesthesia.
Whilst not a recognised training post, it is anticipated that similar opportunities will be provided and in particular the successful candidate will be supported to achieve the necessary competencies to sit the EDRA at the end of their 12 month post. Funding in excess of any study leave allowance will be provided up to £1500 to fund examination fees and a regional anaesthesia cadaver course.
(Starting salary will be dependent upon demonstrable previous anaesthetic experience and competency).
Main duties of the job
Duties in theatres will include anaesthetic cover for a wide variety of orthopaedic surgery ranging from high volume arthroplasty to complex spinal surgery both adult and paediatric. There is also urology and dental surgery performed in the hospital. There is no accident and emergency department in the hospital, neither is there any inpatient obstetrics.
Out of hours work involves participation in a 1 in 8 resident shift rota with prospective cover for annual and study leave. Flexible working patterns are seen as essential to the smooth running of the department; therefore, resident doctors are expected to have a degree of flexibility in their weekly job plan.
These posts will include cover for Emergency Theatres out of hours and the critical care unit which provides level 2 critical care. Support for managing patients on the wards in conjunction with the Outreach team is integral to the role.
