Job summary
An opportunity has arisen within The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) NHS Foundation Trust for a Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultant post (10PA), complementing the existing three Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons.
The postholder will be expected to support the team to address current departmental capacity issues and plans for ongoing expansion and development of the unit. The successful candidate would be expected to participate fully in developing and promoting the Paediatric Orthopaedic service and contribute to the life of this nationally and internationally renowned specialist orthopaedic hospital in line with both the unit and wider trust strategy.
The successful candidate would be expected to provide clinical expertise in the speciality to complement the current existing services. Experience in managing and leading Ponseti service would be particularly useful.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will be responsible for the care of patients referred by general practitioners and all departments and will undertake clinics, ward rounds and operating lists 'programmed activities' as appropriate. We are looking for a dynamic individual who wishes to develop this service to deal with the high demand in a timely and efficient manner.

The appointee will have a responsibility for the running of their clinical service, integrating this with the department as a whole and ensuring appropriate communication with general practitioners, managers and hospital committees. The appointee will be responsible for contributing to the achievement of relevant aspects of the Trusts contractual obligations and business plans.
The appointee will be expected to ensure their clinical service is in accordance with the principles of Clinical Governance which must include appropriate clinical audit, clinical targets, KPIs, evidence-based practice, and continued personal educational and professional development. Take responsibility for your own continuing professional education/development in accordance with guidelines set out by the appropriate college or professional body. Maintain knowledge and skills in relevant areas of professional responsibility, safeguard professional standards of conduct and practice.
Undertake your annual appraisal and job plan review with your clinical manager in accordance with the Trust policy. Maintain appropriate records to facilitate the appraisal process and, when clarified, the relevant documentation to satisfy revalidation procedures. Appropriate funding for the purposes of CPD will be available.
