As a Healthcare Support Worker in our Critical Care Unit, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care for critically ill patients. Main duties of the job

Direct Patient Care: Assist with patient hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and comfort, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.

Monitoring and Observation: Accurately record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure under supervision.

Supporting Clinical Procedures: Assist registered nurses with clinical tasks, including wound dressing changes, taking blood samples, and preparing equipment.

Maintaining Cleanliness: Maintain a safe, tidy, and sterile environment by following cleaning protocols and infection prevention guidelines.

Communication: Relay information accurately and promptly between patients, families, and clinical staff, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.

Emotional Support: Offer reassurance and empathy to patients and relatives during stressful times, being a calming and positive presence.

Documentation: Keep precise and up-to-date records of care provided and observations made, in line with hospital policies.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to ensure seamless care delivery and promote a positive, inclusive team culture.

The Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) role will be based clinically on a ward/ department within the Trust, working under the direct supervision of qualified and non- qualified staff in the delivery of high quality, direct patient care for all patients and their families/ carers.

Health Care Support Workers will use general skills and will carry out straightforward clinical, technical, scientific, and/or administrative tasks, for example performing housekeeping tasks, stock control or delegated clinical tasks. Support workers at this stage require a basic factual knowledge and understanding of their field of work.
