Job summary
We invite applications from experienced anaesthetists, to join our friendly and forward-thinking team at renowned The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. These new posts will allow the department to create a 1:8 resident rota. The post holder should have minimum 3 years' experience in anaesthesia.

Main duties of the job
Duties in theatres will include anaesthetic cover for a wide variety of Orthopaedic surgery ranging from high volume arthroplasty to complex spinal surgery both adult and paediatric. There is also urology and dental surgery performed in the hospital. There is no accident and emergency department in the hospital, neither is there any inpatient obstetrics. Out of hours work involves participation in a 1 in 8 resident shift rota with prospective cover for annual and study leave. Flexible working patterns are seen as essential to the smooth running of the department; therefore, specialty grade doctors are expected to have a degree of flexibility in their weekly job plan. These posts will include cover for Emergency Theatres out of hours and the critical care unit which provides level 2 critical care. Support for managing patients on the wards in conjunction with the Outreach team is integral to the role.
