Job summary
We are recruiting an Apprentice Healthcare Support Worker to work within our Main Out-Patient Department.
The apprenticeship is for a fixed-term ending 31.3.27, during which time the postholder will be supported to achieve Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker qualification. The apprentice will work 5 days per week, shifts, scheduled in line with the departmental rota.
Applicants must meet the entry-level qualifications for health and social care, which are Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) Level 2 (eg at least one GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 functional skills or a Level 2 healthcare support worker apprenticeship
In order to satisfy the course requirements applicants should possess Level 1 English and Maths, and achieve Level 2 English and Maths and the Care Certificate prior to completion of the apprenticeship. Attainment of the Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker will require 20% off the job learning, which involves both classroom and distance learning participation.
The duration of the Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker course is 18 months.
Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and the position is not therefore eligible for skilled worker sponsorship. Applications from candidates that require skilled worker sponsorship will NOT be shortlisted.
Main duties of the job
The Higher Healthcare Assistant Apprentice will undertake a range of duties, including:
Provides person centred care and support, undertaking personal care duties.
Undertakes personal care duties, e.g. bathing, toileting, dressing, support with meals and assisting patients with their appearance.
Records patient information.
Develops, manages and maintains positive, appropriate relationships with service users, families and carers, demonstrating respect, kindness, compassion and empathy at all times.
Acts appropriately in emergency circumstances, including immediate first aid.
