The successful applicant will work alongside all members of the Theatre team and will be responsible for the delivery of safe, high quality evidence - based care within their allocated area, ensuring all resources within that area are safe and fit for purpose and ensuring the highest quality patient care standards
The Theatre Unit at RJAH consists of 13 theatre's, with 11 situated in the main theatre unit and 2 in our 'Menzies' unit. Alongside these, we have a Recovery unit, a High Dependency Unit (HDU), and an on-site Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgical Support Unit (TSSU). Our scope of services spans a broad spectrum, primarily focusing on elective Orthopaedic surgery, including Revision & Primary Arthroplasty, Upper Limb, Lower Limb, Sports Injuries, Spines, Tumors, and Paediatrics.
This role is primarily clinical with designated time for admin duties. A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience is desirable.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 practitioner at RJAH, it is expected that you can deliver exceptional clinical leadership within the theatre team. Your role involves guiding, empowering, and fostering the delivery of high-quality care to patients throughout their theatre experience. You will be tasked with both challenging and supporting the education, training, and growth of all learners and colleagues. Additionally, you will actively promote a forward-thinking approach to enhancing patient care through research, audit, and evidence-based practices. The combination of leadership skills and clinical expertise is crucial for success in this Band 6 position.

The post holder will take responsibility for the Theatre Scrub Team in the absence of the Band 7 Manager, who has continuing 24-hour responsibility. They will hold responsibility for staff management in the absence of the Theatre Scrub Manager.
The successful candidate must be a registered Nurse or ODP with the relevant NMC/HCPC registration. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, motivated, flexible, pro-active and committed to continuing CPD with a willingness to learn new skills.
