Job summary
We are looking for a candidate with a B.Eng Mechanical Engineering degree, other engineering disciplines/qualifications are unlikely to possess the skills required to undertake this role*. The fixed term nature of this post prevents us from offering any training, so we will expect the successful applicant to be able to demonstrate an ability to use Fusion 360 at interview through a practical test.

This is a fixed term, 12 month role for a Mechanical Engineering Graduate. The successful applicant will join a small team of clinical scientists and engineering technicians primarily to help develop a new device for patient treatment.
We expect the successful applicant to have excellent CAD skills along with a proven ability to liaise and perform alongside industrial partners. Some travel will be necessary to liaise with partners but the majority of work will be based in ORLAU. This is an exciting role for mechanical engineering graduates who wish to take their first step in medical device development.
The successful candidate will work under the close supervision of the Senior Rehabilitation Engineer and will be part of a unique team working on an exiting and novel development.
Main duties of the job
This role is to help design and develop a new standing frame for the Orthotic Research & Locomotor Assessment Unit at the RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, Shropshire. This project is currently underway but is in need of additional staff to help finish it.
The successful candidate will be heavily involved in day-to-day CAD work as well as assisting with the testing phase where required. As part of the role, we will also equip the successful candidate with a range of skills that can be used in a clinical environment, such as the manufacture and adjustment of a range of rehabilitation equipment.
