Job summary

This role is pivotal to the development and execution of education and training programmes within the Trust ensuring patient safety and experience through the provision and compliance of core and job-related training subjects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and compliance across the Trust

The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the Learning & Development team, managing, overseeing and providing specialist guidance and support to ensure the various processes for Corporate Induction, Mandatory and Role Specific Training, e-learning development and the provision of a comprehensive administrative support service. The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues in the wider clinical education team, and requires a proactive approach to working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify training needs and employing innovative methodologies to enhance the overall effectiveness of training programmes., You will work collaboratively with partners across the wider Shropshire Telford and Wrekin (STW) footprint, ensuring the provision of quality training subjects across the wider health economy.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure appropriate Trust policies and procedures are followed by the L&D Team
  • Oversee the team in dealing with enquiries either in person, by telephone, by e-mail or by MS Teams from staff and students within the Trust.
  • To ensure the development needs of members of the Learning & Development Team are met with appropriate guidance, training and advice.
  • Attend, contribute and present reports for core and job-related compliance to the relevant Trust Assurance Committee meetings as required.
  • To be able to provide cover and support for other team members and prevent any single points of failure across the Learning and Development Team.
  • To implement a process of workflow to manage the various Learning & Development work streams to ensure tasks are completed to agreed timescales and to meet demand.
  • Oversee effective and timely planning, coordination and recording of training activity by the team, establishing processes to maintain the quality of training data. This should include clear service KPI's for recording of activity, business planning cycle for coordination of training and communications with SME's and the wider workforce

  • Liaising with SMEs, to research and organize the development and implementation of new internal training modules, ensuring that the L&D Officers are informed of the staff groups required to complete the training, the validity period, and the competencies acquired after completion are set-up correctly in ESR.
  • Provide advice in relation to core and job-related training subjects, the associated competencies or the request for new training modules.
  • Provide advice and guidance on relevant polices or procedures relating to training.

  • Possess a CIPD Learning & Development or HR diploma or certificate at level 5; or have significant experience within a training/learning work environment and be working towards a CIPD level 5 qualification.
