Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Medical Secretary to provide high quality efficient and effective secretarial and administrative support to our Bone Densities Department within the Metabolic Team. Applicants to have a good all round experience in a secretarial role. RSA III typing/audio typing or proven experience. A good knowledge of medical terminology. Candidates should display discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information and be able to deal calmly with patients and staff by telephone and face to face. Good communication/interpersonal skills. Ability to deal with frequent interruptions whilst maintaining levels of concentration. A flexible approach and ability to work on ones' own initiative essential. T

Main duties of the job

Provide a full comprehensive and professional secretarial service to the Bone Density Department and their Team.

To provide accurate and high quality typing of the results of bone density scans in a timely manner.

Once bone density reports have been verified distribute the results to the original referrer and check any actions from these reports.

Check for any outstanding dictation and chase with relevant Consultant.

Scanning of all bone density document into patients electronic patient record doing quality assurance checks.

Liaise with relevant booking teams if further out-patient appointments are required.

Dealing with telephone queries from healthcare professionals and patients.

Dealing with mail coming into the Department.

Cross cover of Teams within the Department.

Systems used will be Dicom, Physicians view and secretarial systems.
