Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking therapy support worker to work within the therapeutic pool and main therapy department. This post will be based within the outpatient therapy team but will involve working with both out and in patients.
The successful candidate will have the RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or will be a strong swimmer able to complete this qualification within the first 6 months of employment.
You will have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and be able to react calmly to challenging situations.

Main duties of the job
This post will be based in the area of outpatient physiotherapy but will involve working with both out and in patients. In patients will come from the orthopaedic, general medical and spinal injuries units. This post will involve working with children and adults.1. To assist the physiotherapy staff in general patient care and specific treatments in particularinvolving the therapeutic pool pool.2. To work as a lifeguard when required.3. To undertake administration and clerical duties within the Physiotherapy Department.4. To provide clinical and non-clinical support to the Physiotherapy staff in order to main efficientorganisation of the Physiotherapy Service.5. To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with nursing and therapy colleagues to ensure amultidisciplinary service.6. To assist with the cleaning of the pool area and the therapy outpatient department.

Clinical1. To participate in and assist in the treatment of patients (adults and children) in the therapeutic pool and Physiotherapy Department, following assessment by a physiotherapist.2. To move, handle or position patients safety within the limits of their condition.3. Supervise and monitor patients condition and/or changes, during treatment programmes in the hydrotherapy pool.4. To ensure patients receive the correct exercise sheet (as directed by a physiotherapist) and to encourage them to comply, whilst in the water.5. To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with CSP and the Trust standards.6. To monitor the water temperature x 3 daily.7. To assist children with the application of splints and use of walking aids.8. To be responsible for the safe and competent use of walking aids.9. To be responsible for the safe and competent use of aids, appliances, hoists, gym equipment and aquatic physiotherapy equipment.10. To transport patients in wheelchairs / beds to and from the wards when necessary.11. To provide and distribute liquid refreshments to patients, during and after exercise programmes.12. To escort and assist patients with dressing / undressing for their pool sessions or toilet requirements (using appropriate IPC guidelines when patients are barrier nursed).13.
