An opportunity has arisen for the post of a Band 7 Theatre Coordinator at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
This post will involve working clinically in the numbers and managing the running of the Operating Theatre lists including the management of the Theatre teams.
The role of the Band 7 Theatre Coordinator for Theatres is integral to the smooth running of the Operating Theatres at the Royal Shrewsbury. This role is integral to the cohesive working between the Operating Theatre teams and Theatre Management team where reputations as a caring, professional and proactive environment are vital, with safety of all as the priority.
The expectations within this job description will be met through professional leadership, clinical management, hands on clinical practice, education and training, and audit.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
Work clinically in the Operating Theatres and maintain a responsibility within the Main Theatre Band 7 team
Ensure Theatre equipment and resources are appropriately managed
The post holder will assist in setting the high standards of clinical practice, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team overseeing the training and supervision of new staff members.
The post holder will be responsible for the development of any Standard Operating Procedures and policies required for the area alongside the Matrons for Theatres.
The post holder will be required to attend relevant meetings to ensure all issues and addressed and maintain a cohesive collaboration between the teams.
The post holder will have ongoing responsibility for the operational effectiveness of their designated clinical area by being present in their clinical area and challenging where required.
The post holder will lead the Theatre team and build successful links between key professionals to support and promote effective multi-disciplinary team working.
The post holder will be responsible for developing a Theatre team who will understand the challenges and be able to work alongside the multi disciplinary team with confidence and expertise to ensure the best outcome for patients

- Evidence of continuing professional development/qualification relevant to area of speciality
Experience and Knowledge

- Substantial experience of leading and managing a clinical team
- High level clinical skills and knowledge
- Experience in teaching and training of staff
