Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a Tier 1 (ST1-ST3 registrar equivalent) Doctor to work within our established Paediatric department has arisen. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of our friendly Paediatric team delivering high quality care from within our state-of-the-art facilities. This is an ideal post for the successful applicant to further develop their paediatric skills. The successful applicant will also be encouraged to develop interest and expertise in a non-clinical area such as education, governance or management.

Main duties of the job

o Day to day participation in clinical activities on children's ward and assessment unit with direct resident consultant or a middle grade support both day and night shifts.o Participation in the department teaching, audit, and educational activities.o To engage with personal clinical audit, departmental governance and Mortality and morbidity meetings.o Will be expected to participate in teaching and CPD meetings. To engage with supervision meetings.o To develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.o To have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team.o To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.o To follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

The rota is compliant with the terms and conditions of the 2016 Junior Doctor Contract and WTD and has been carefully designed to maximise training opportunities for doctors whilst maintaining a safe and efficient service, with an even spread of long days and nights. The post holder will be 1 of the 15 doctors contributing to the full shift rota with a weekend frequency of 1:3.75 with 17.30 night shifts across a 15-week reference period and is prospectively covered for annual and study leave.

  • MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
  • BLS and ALS or Equivalent

  • Demonstrable equivalent experience and/or completion of NHS Foundation Year 1 and 2 competences.
  • Competent academic background within an interest in evidence based Paediatrics.
