An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locally Employed Tier 2 Doctor to work within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The Princess Royal Hospital is a busy DGH with around 4500 deliveries a year in the beautiful county of Shropshire. The team covering emergency work consists of Resident Consultants, Tier 2 (Registrar) and Tier 1 (SHO) doctors covering O&G on a 24hrs a day basis. You will participate in the Tier 2 resident rota on a 1:12 basis which includes days, nights and weekends. You will also have access to gynaecology clinics and theatres. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the field of O&G in this consultant led and delivered service. You will have the opportunity to take on a SITM as part of your CPD time and we will strongly encourage you to develop a special interest. We would be happy to support you with a CESR application if appropriate.
Main duties of the job
o Day to day running of the labour ward, gynaecology wards and obstetric triage with direct resident consultant support both day and nighto Ante-natal and gynaecological clinicso Participation in the department teaching, audit, and educational activitieso Dedicated CPD time to focus on an appropriate SITM or CESR application (if required)o To develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.o To have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team.o To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.o To follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

The rota is compliant with the terms and conditions of the 2016 Junior Doctor Contract and WTD and has been carefully designed to maximise training opportunities for doctors whilst maintaining a safe and efficient service, with an even spread of long days and nights. The post holder will be 1 of the 12 doctors contributing to the full shift rota with a weekend frequency of 3 in 12 and 7 night shifts across a 12 week reference period and is prospectively covered for annual and study leave.
