Job summary
Medical Engineering currently have an Assistant Technical Officer vacancy based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Medical Engineering operates an ISO:9001 and ISO:13485 quality system, therefore knowledge and experience of operating within these systems would be of benefit to the department to maintain its principles of continuous improvement.
You will have previous experience of working in a maintenance environment, working with tools and equipment, on a range of different equipment providing maintenance services including basic fault finding with a minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
- The Assistant Technical Officer helps look after medical equipment used inhospitals.
- They check and fix devices to make sure they are safe and working properly.
- They help manage equipment stock, including ordering new items and getting rid of old ones.
- They keep records of repairs and tests and help update the equipment database.
- They work with hospital staff and suppliers to solve problems and share technical information.
- They may also help train new staff and visit different hospital areas, including places like operating rooms and intensive care units
About us
The department is responsible for the management of medical devices, including commissioning, repair, maintenance and disposal for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SATH) and other external organisations. Although the vacancy is primarily based at RSH & PRH, the post holder may be required to work at other sites to meet the needs of the service.
The post involves working with other healthcare professionals, often in clinical areas and therefore excellent communication skills will be required to interact with medical, nursing and technical staff.
