We are looking to recruit dynamic, confident and motivated senior nurse to join our Capacity Team at SaTH. The post is for 3 months initially with potential opportunity to extend. The post holder will be a pivotal in the Capacity Team, to lead and coordinate capacity which supports effective clinical flow for elective and emergency pathways whilst maintaining patient safety and providing visible senior clinical leadership out of hours on all matters relating to the management of the Hospital sites in the role of Senior Manager on call.
The post holders will be professional clinical role models who inspire confidence, demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, organisation, prioritisation, decision making and problem-solving skills with the confidence and ability to escalate issues outside of the role of responsibilities. You will demonstrate attention to detail and have the ability to collate complex information from multi-factorial sources, analyse the bed capacity situation using information technology, pre-empting planned and non -planned admissions and ensuring there are consistent, proactive systems.
Main duties of the job
Working from the Operational Command Centre, the post holder will be responsible for leading safe, resilient, and consistent operational site management and facilitating safe and effective patient flow in line with the Trust policies and procedures.
You will have a good understanding of patient flow, discharge and site operations and will have the skills to work collaboratively with clinical and operational leads to support and deliver an efficient and effective service which contributes to the achievement of national and local performance standards.
This is a senior leadership role and is focused on the quality of patient experience through the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care and the post holder will demonstrate the Trust PACT values and behaviours.
Work as part of a rotational team of Capacity and Flow matrons managing patient flow and fulfil the role of the SMOC out of hours working across both The Princess Royal, Telford & The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites.
Provide a visible presence supporting and liaising with the key assessment areas to facilitate patient flow and improve flow through to the speciality base wards and improve the utilisation of the Patient Discharge Lounge.
Working closely with the Head of Patient Flow, you will be required to undertake project work to support delivery of UEC improvements.
About us
The capacity team provides Clinical Site Management across The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital at Shrewsbury, Shropshire. You will work closely with a team of Clinical Site Managers, other Capacity and Flow Matrons and the Head of Patient Flow.
The posts attract enhanced payments, working 4 days over the 7 day period, including weekends and Bank Holidays. Along with 4 other Capacity and Flow Matrons, you will be expected to cover both sites overnight in an on call capacity.
