Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a keen, enthusiastic and motivated Neonatal Practice Education Facilitator to work within our friendly Neonatal Team of hardworking Nurses and Midwives, who are passionate about providing excellent care for our babies and their parents/carers.
This position has been developed to enhance our educational offerings within the Trust and to emphasise the importance of Clinical Skills teaching and simulation training. The successful candidate will be a registered Nurse or Midwife, primarily responsible for supporting the delivery of neonatal nursing education. They will collaborate closely with colleagues in both the clinical skills and education teams, across both maternity services and the wider Trust.
You will need to be RN/RM/RCN and hold QIS/ENB 405 with previous experience of working in a Neonatal Unit plus the commitment and enthusiasm for working in this field.
You will need to provide clinical expertise in all aspects of neonatal care, you will also need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. You must have compassion and be able to demonstrate flexible thinking as well as the ability to prioritise a demanding workload. You will need to be able to work with the multidisciplinary team with motivation to strive for excellence in practice.
Main duties of the job
o To provide clinical skills/Simulation trainingo To support the induction of new members of staff onto the Neonatal unit and follow up with practical sessions according to needs.o To assist the Practice Educator Facilitator Lead in the management of the clinical skills sessionso To assist the Practice Educator Facilitator Lead to develop guidelines andimplement developments in practice ensuring these are audited.o To assist the Practice Educator Facilitator Lead to ensure all staff are compliant with their Statutory and Mandatory trainingo To work alongside the Practice Educator Facilitator Lead to develop sessions that may arise in response to incidents or bespoke training needso To facilitate clinical staff in the ward/department/specialty in identifying opportunities for maintaining and improving standards of patient care.o To support and facilitate innovation in care provision in a structured and systematic way.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.
We are a Level 2 Local Neonatal Unit part of the West Midlands Operational Delivery Network which has 22 cots comprising of 3 intensive care cots 3 high dependency and 16 special care cots. We provide excellent care for preterm babies from 27 weeks gestation and sick term new born babies. We also provide stabilisation to babies born at a lower gestation and sick babies before transfer out to an NICU,delivering the highest standard of care to our babies and their families.
We have a very supportive and forward thinking multi disciplinary team who work closely together to ensure the best outcomes for the babies and families in our care.
