The Pharmacy department is looking for senior pharmacy support workers/officers to dispense, prepare medicines and assist the pharmacy services medicines management activities.

Successful applicants will be fully supported within the role and the possibility to progress will be available for suitable candidates.

This role is based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Dispense and prepare drugs for all patients including inpatients, outpatients, patients receiving chemotherapy, clinics, and community hospitals.
  • Assist the pharmacy workflow by prioritising own workload and under the instruction of those responsible for that area.
  • Support medicines management activities at the ward level.
  • Liaise closely with Pharmacy and nursing staff over stock medicine supplies including providing a topping up service.

Attainment

Essential

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or have equivalent pharmacy or medicines related experience or a dispensing qualification
  • Numeracy and Literacy GCSE grade 9-4 (A-C) in English and Mathematics

Experience and skills

Essential

  • Previous NHS or NHS associated healthcare experience
  • Good attention to detail

Desirable

  • COSHH experience
