The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust

Clinical Technologist (Dosimetrist)

The closing date is 12 September 2025

Job summary

A new opportunity has become available within the Radiotherapy Physics Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for a Band 6 Clinical Technologist (Dosimetrist) to join our friendly team.

We offer a contemporary Radiotherapy Service and have recently implemented/expanded a number of key service improvements including AI auto-contouring and surface-guided radiotherapy (SGRT). We are currently commissioning our new Varian Truebeam linear accelerator equipped with SGRT and aim to be clinical in September 2025. We have many exciting projects in the pipeline including moving our patient management system and treatment planning system to the cloud and several initiatives to improve both the efficiency and quality of our processes and treatments (e.g. RapidPlan, scripting, transit dosimetry).

We have a growing SABR program and are committed to improving the access to these techniques for our patients.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Dosimetrist team you will be responsible for supporting treatment planning and mould room services.

This will include routine treatment planning of a variety of treatment sites and fabrication of patient immobilisation devices.

You will be expected to support future developments of the department, including quality/service and process improvement initiatives, and participate in appropriate CPD/training.
