Diabetes Podiatrist

Job summary

We are looking for dynamic, industrious and flexible Podiatrist to join a progressive and forward-thinking team that shares a great passion vision in improving care for people with diabetes in Shropshire.

Post holders will be based within the purpose-built diabetes centre at the Royal Shrewsbury hospital with a satellite clinic in the Princess Royal Hospital and will provide both inpatient and outpatient services including the MDfT service. You will work within our busy 5 days a week multi-disciplinary diabetes foot clinic. The work will include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients with a wide range of clinical and medical needs. Clinical time will be spent working withing the multidisciplinary diabetes foot team to provide integrated care to outpatients and in patients with acute and complex problems associated with diabetes.

We would like to hear from you if are a Band 6 level podiatrist, who is keen to provide highly specialist podiatry treatment to people with active foot disease within the hospital setting.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job are to provide specialist footcare for patients with complex high risk foot problems. This includes diabetes patients with acute and chronic foot wounds and patients with neuropathic and vascular complications. The post holder will be clinically responsible for treatment of the high-risk caseload working autonomously as well as work as part of the multi-disciplinary foot team.

Experience

  • Previous post graduate experience of managing high risk podiatry patients
  • Specialist knowledge of podiatry assessment and treatment technique
  • Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures e.g Nice Guidelines, The Royal college of Podiatry/ Health and Care Professionals Council Code of Conduct/ Ethics, Health and safety, Infection Control, Equality and Diversity
