Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring Registered Nurse.

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to join and help lead our team on Ward 26 General Medicine & Endocrine at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital as a Band 6 Sister/ Charge Nurse. 34.5hrs permanent contract.

Ward 26 is a large 37 bedded ward, which specialises in the care of General Medical and Endocrine patients, many of whom are acutely unwell and have complex medical needs. Ward 26 is a fast-paced moving environment requiring good time management and organisational skills as well as extensive clinical knowledge within the medical field. Endocrinology knowledge is desirable, specifically the management of complex diabetes. Effective communication skills are key, and a caring and compassionate attitude is vital.

The candidate should also have excellent interpersonal skills, drive and enthusiasm and be dedicated to ensuring that good quality care is delivered to all our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area. To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and supporting other team members.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
  • To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
  • To deputise for the ward/ department manager in his / her absence, driving forward evidence based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
