Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Department.

This person would need to be adaptable to constant changes and have the ability to work on their own initiative. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to communicate with managers and individual members of staff at all levels both verbally and in writing. The post will be varied and requires problem solving skills together with numeracy skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working in a busy and diverse environment; the skills/experience required:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritise and remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Understand the need to follow established procedures
  • Ability to use own initiative within a team environment

  • Work well as part of a team

About us

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking for an enthusiastic person, who enjoys working in a very busy and diverse environment, to join our friendly Payroll department. You would be part of a small flexible team, within the Shared Payroll Service in Shropshire and would assist in delivering a Payroll Service. Job share would be considered.

Essential

  • Previous experience of a busy office environment

Desirable

  • Previous Payroll experience, to include PAYE, SSP and SMP
  • Payroll procedures, particularly, those relating to the NHS

  • A good basic academic record to include Maths and English grades C or above (9-4 or equivalent)
