Job summary

Are you ready to embrace a new challenge or looking for an opportunity to develop new skills?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit band 5 nurses to join our friendly and dynamic team on Medical escalation at PRH.

Medical escalation is a 17 bedded ward at PRH, specialising in caring for general medical patients, many of whom are either acutely unwell or have complex medical needs. This is a rewarding and demanding role that requires commitment and a positive attitude.

We are a busy ward and some days have a fast turnover of patients, so being able to work dynamically is essential. An understanding of the importance of maintaining patient flows through the hospital is pivotal to this role.

We are looking to recruit someone who will role model high clinical and professional standards, who is enthusiastic, reliable, hard-working, kind and can demonstrate the ability to work using their own initiative and able to provide safe and compassionate nursing care to acutely unwell patients. Good communication and interpersonal skills are key in addition to being able to collaborate as part of a team. A caring and compassionate attitude is also vital. You will be supported with a period of induction and encouraged to pursue your interests through further training and development opportunities at the Trust.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for assessing individual patient care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating plans of care for a group of patients in accordance with agreed policies and professional guidelines.
  • To take charge of the ward for a span of duty, normally working under the supervision of senior staff.
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
