Job summary

To Lead in the Delivery and meeting of the NHSE National Standards for Healthcare Good and Drink

Key role in implementation as Lead Food Service Dietitian.

Main duties of the job

1. To undertake a cross-site strategic role in developing, planning, delivering and evaluating an evidence based nutrition support service across the SaTH hospitals

2. To be an expert resource and clinical lead for nutrition support across the organisation for Dietetic colleagues, nursing and medical staff, catering staff, patients and members of the public.

3. The dietitian will act as a key facilitator taking a lead role in the implementation of objectives agreed by the Trust Nutrition Steering Group.

4. A key responsibility will be the on-going implementation and monitoring of the Trust's Nutrition Screening Tool and the development and delivery of education programmes for medical, nursing and catering staff encompassing a food first approach to nutrition support.

5. To take the lead role in the implementation of the NICE Guidelines linked to nutrition across the Trust and oversee associated audits to assess the Trust's compliance with National initiatives, PEAT assessments etc.

6. To lead the development of a Care pathway for patients receiving enteral nutritional support, and be responsible for producing relevant policies and guidelines related to nutrition.

7. To have responsibility for co-ordinating jointly managed projects with Speech & Language Therapy and Catering staff.

The Dietetic team in SaTH works across the acute service for adults and children and into the community with community hospitals and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital in Oswestry . The team works very closely across the specialities including Renal, weight management, Diabetes, Acute inpatients, Paediatrics, Neonates, Oncology and community. We encourage personal development and support via HEE funding where possible. We are a proactive team and strive for continual improvement. We have students from Coventry and embarking on our first apprenticeship roles.
