The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust

The closing date is 09 May 2024

Job summary

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Radiographers to join our team in Shrewsbury. Applications are welcome from Radiographers already working at Band 5 level but this post would also be suitable for newly qualified Radiographers.

This opportunity is primarily within the treatment areas, however, there may be an opportunity to work in pre-treatment.

We offer a supportive, collaborative working environment and the chance to participate in our Radiographer led initiatives including Review Clinics, Site specific MDTs, virtual simulation and IGRT.

We actively encourage role development and support staff in achieving their personal goals and aspirations. All staff have the opportunity to work flexible hours; full-time posts work 37.5 hours over four long days with a rolling day off. All staff participate in on-call for emergency patients at the weekend.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out all aspects of Radiotherapy treatment in line with the requirements of the Radiotherapy Services Manager.
  • To work alongside other professional groups to develop site specific techniques to improve the quality of care for patients receiving radiotherapy in this department
  • Ensure the needs of the patient are identified and met.

About us

The department consists of 3 Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators; a Gulmay Unit and a Canon LB Exceed wide bore CT scanner with radiographer-led palliative virtual simulation using Eclipse.

We are extending the SABR service to include bone and nodes soon.

We have an active Clinical Trials department and participate in most major trials.

Time away from work is just as important and Shropshire is a beautiful, mostly rural county where we enjoy a high quality of life.
