Job summary

This is a trainee Data Warehouse Developer role and as such it is expected that the postholder will undertake training for Data Warehouse development.

This will take the form of in-house training, external training and self paced training. Specific Data Warehouse development training to gain a certified qualification in data warehouse development will be required in one or more areas in order to advance to Band 7.

It is expected that progression to Band 7 will be after 2 years if the trainee demonstrates that they have gained sufficient skills, knowledge and experience and have obtained a certified qualification as chosen by the Data Warehouse Manager.

This is a hybrid working location role with some time in the office. This is subject to change at any time as directed by the Senior Data Architect

It is an exciting time to be joining The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) to be a part of an exceptional Data Warehouse team. You will be working on a number of developments as part of the Digital Services Roadmap as well as business as usual tasks.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing database development and technical support to the Data Warehouse (DWH) Team.

About us

As a member of the Digital Service's Directorate, this role will be critical to improving the organisations understanding of opportunities and risks and in improving the quality of decision-making.

The role will support the delivery of the Trusts vison and strategic goals though the identification of key insights that drive improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of the services provided. The team will provide the data for central reporting systems to ease the day to day job of staff at all levels. This in turn will help the Trust deliver its integrated care vision.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Educated to GCSE, A-Level in Mathematics and English, NVQ or equivalent qualification.
  • Educated to A-Level, NVQ or equivalent qualification.

Desirable

  • Microsoft SQL stack qualification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience in use of IT packages, especially daily use of Microsoft Office suite especially Excel, Word, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrable experience in liaising and negotiating effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority
  • Experience of working flexibly to meet the needs of the service
  • Knowledge and experience of the software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of the change control process
